Part of the Red Lake District, Cochenour combines an exciting gold discovery with historical mine workings.

Quick Facts
Location Cochenour, Ontario
District Red Lake
Ownership 100%
Type of Mine Underground
Gold Resources (measured and indicated) 290,000 ounces
Gold Resources (inferred) 2.15 million ounces

Cochenour is a potential new source of ore located five kilometers from Red Lake. The mine sits on the old Cochenour-Willans mine site, which we acquired in 1997, and includes the Bruce Channel gold discovery immediately south of the mine.

We are conducting a pre-feasibility study. The site is already connected to Red Lake by a five-kilometre haulage drift, and ore will be processed at the Red Lake Campbell Complex.

Key development milestones

Concept study on processing and economics of mine – completed

Pre-feasibility study begun – expected completion in late 2017

Declare first reserves – expected by start of 2018

Cochenour is in the eastern part of the Red Lake Greenstone Belt in the Birch-Uchi Lake Subprovince of the Superior Province, within the core of the Canadian Shield. Like Red Lake, it sits in the oldest sequence of the belt.

The goals of the exploration program at Cochenour are:

  • converting a portion of the measured and indicated mineral resources into an initial mineral reserve
  • developing a robust geological model for the entire deposit that will be the basis for future reserve and resource growth.
