Pueblo Viejo, located in the Dominican Republic, is one of the largest gold assets in the world and is poised to become a world-class operation with a projected mine life of more than 25 years.
It is a 23.7 million ounce proven and probable gold reserve, where Goldcorp’s interest represents 9.5 million ounces. The project is a partnership with Barrick Gold Corporation, the project operator.
The Pueblo Viejo project is advancing on schedule with first gold expected in the fourth quarter of 2011.
Goldcorp's 40% share of estimated annual gold production in its first five years is 415,000-450,000 ounces at at total cash cost of $250-$275 per ounce.
