PROCESSING

Process Flowsheet | Water Supply | Power Supply

Process Flowsheet
Gold is recovered using a combination of gravity concentration and cyanidation techniques. The circuit consists of primary, secondary and tertiary crushing, rod/ball mill grinding, gravity concentration, cyanide leaching, carbon-in-pulp gold recovery, stripping, electro winning and refining.

Hoyle Pond ore is crushed in the Dome open pit primary crushing plant along with open pit ore and Dome underground ore before being fed to a two-stage secondary crushing plant located north of the ultimate pit. Tailings are impounded in the No. 6 tailing area southeast of the mine site.

Water Supply
Process and fire protection system water is reclaimed from tailings. Potable water is supplied to the Dome site from the City of Timmins water system. At Hoyle Pond there is adequate process water available from the clear water pond at the tailings, while make-up water comes from underground supply. Potable water comes from the Kidd Creek metallurgical site and is further treated on site.

Power Supply
Electrical power is purchased through an Independent Electricity Market Operator at spot market prices. Goldcorp is reviewing options for power purchase through bi-lateral contracts in order to reduce exposure to volatile spot market prices. Annual consumption is approximately 170 mega watts an hour.
