Protecting the health and safety of all employees is first priority at Porcupine. The mining industry today is diversified and continually changing as new technology and practices are introduced. Porcupine mine must always be vigilant for new risks introduced into the workplace that have the potential to harm employees. Managing these risks and changing individual behavior is a constant challenge in a diversified and multi-skilled workforce.
To achieve an injury-free workplace, Porcupine mine promotes a safety culture where every employee is encouraged to think safe, act safe, work safe and promote safety not merely as a part of their job but because they truly believe that safety is the right thing to do under any circumstance. Safety must be integrated into every facet of employees’ work and home lives. Porcupine continually works to develop new programs and systems to ensure a powerful safety culture is embedded in the way all employees work.
Each year Porcupine mine designates a month 'Saftey Month'. During this time each department focuses on a number of safety projects suggested by employees that aim at making the workplace safer and more productive.
