The Fraser Institute’s Mining Studies mission is to study, measure, and communicate the impact of mining policy on prosperity, employment, the environment, infrastructure and other indicators of well being. The Institute also works towards developing best-practices policy frameworks that benefit local communities and the mining industry, and creating public support for sound mining policies through a strong communications program. The Lassonde Institute for Engineering Geoscience
 

The Lassonde Institute for Engineering Geoscience is an interdisciplinary research institute within the University of Toronto created to be at the forefront of leading edge research in Engineering Geoscience. It is an international center of excellence in Engineering Geoscience encompassing engineers, geophysicists, geologists, geochemists, materials scientists and environmental scientists who are interested in research that crosses disciplines and traditional boundaries. With the development of the Goldcorp Mining Innovation Suite, Goldcorp, the Lassonde Institute, and the University of Toronto will continue to make a seminal contribution to the economic and environmental health of the mining industry for years to come.

Goldcorp made a donation in support of the Liu Institute, which pursues interdisciplinary and policy-related research and advocacy on global public policy issues related to human security. Its research agenda embraces international relations, human security, peace and disarmament, the environment, conflict and development, and global health and international justice issues.

Established in 1908, Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering at the University of Nevada is building on century-old traditions as one of the first comprehensive schools of mines in the world. Goldcorp’s contribution to the school of the Goldcorp Endowment in Minerals Engineering will help ensure the school’s continued excellence.

The Mineral Deposit Research Unit (MDRU) is a collaborative venture between the mining industry and The University of British Columbia (UBC). The unit, which was established in 1989 with support and financial assistance from the mining industry and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), is an important part of the Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences and an internationally recognized research group devoted to solving mineral exploration-related problems. Goldcorp recognizes, by donation, the value of this venture to the mining industry.

For the past 108 years, Montana Tech has earned a reputation as one of the finest science, engineering, and technical colleges in the world. Montana Tech is a leader in undergraduate and graduate education and research in the Pacific Northwest in engineering, science, energy, health, information sciences and technology. By establishing The Goldcorp, Inc. Endowed Professorship, Goldcorp is helping to ensure that Montana Tech remains a leader in education and research.

The National Centre for Business Law provides a robust, interdisciplinary and empirical research environment for research and scholarship in business law and finance policy, focused on both domestic and international comparative law. The Centre offers outstanding educational programs in business law for LL.B., graduate and professional students, enhancing the quality of students’ learning experience by increasing engagement with contemporary business law issues. Goldcorp is pleased to be a Platinum Affiliate of The National Centre for Business Law.

The Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation is an educational organization dedicated to providing scholarly research of the laws and issues affecting domestic and international mineral and water resources. The goals of the Foundation are to foster and encourage a scholarly and yet practical study of the law and applicable regulations relating to oil and gas, mining, water, public land management, land use, conservation, environmental protection, and other related areas. Goldcorp recognizes, by donation, the importance of the Foundation.

Shad Valley helps to develop Canada’s next generation of innovative leaders, inspiring them to reach for their highest levels of personal, educational, and professional achievement. Shad Valley’s key academic focus areas are engineering, science, technology, and entrepreneurship. Goldcorp has been a proud supporter of Shad Valley for the past two years.

The Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa aims to be recognized as a leading institution for management education and innovative research. Through its academic programs, offered in both English and French, the Telfer School seeks to prepare its students to assume leadership positions in today’s global economy and to instill in them the highest standards of integrity, ethics and social consciousness. The University of British Columbia holds an international reputation for excellence in advanced research and learning. To assist in the development of these characteristics, Goldcorp has made a commitment to donate $5 million to support the Earth Systems Science Building (ESSB) over the course of 5 years. In recognition of this noteworthy donation, UBC will name the Teaching and Learning Wing within the ESSB the Goldcorp Inc. Teaching and Learning Wing.

The University of Ottawa, is one of the leading Universities in the nation. Goldcorp Inc. and the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Science have united to create the new Goldcorp Chair in Economic Geology. Goldcorp has pledged a gift of $1.5 million to the University of Ottawa as an endowment for the Chair. Funds made available through the Goldcorp Chair are being used to support research and education initiatives with a focus on mineral resources in the Canadian Shield.

Goldcorp acknowledged the importance of AFABC by donating to this organization which supports the children and families involved in the adoption process. This organization is nationally recognized as a pioneer in adoption for promoting and supporting adoptive families and has made a positive impact in the lives of thousands of children and families across British Columbia. In October, 2006 Goldcorp sponsored the AFABC ‘Wine on the Mountain' fund raising event on the top of Grouse Mountain.

Since 1987, the Fondation de la faune du Québec has been involved throughout the Quebec region, supporting financially and technically the conservation initiatives and the promotion of wildlife habitats in Quebec.
The Foundation supports the protection of the environment of the forests, fields, marshes, wetlands and ponds.  It also supports managements aimed at helping endangered species or animals familiar to hunters, fishing and trapping enthusiasts. Goldcorp shares the Foundation’s commitment to protecting the environment in which we live and work in.

Goldcorp and Kidsport share the belief that all kids should be given the opportunity to develop healthy lifestyles, no matter the financial, physical or language barriers that may exist. KidSport™ is a community based sport-funding program that provides grants for children ages 6 – 18 to participate in a sport season of their choice.

The Mining Suppliers’ Association of BC is a strong partner of the Mining Association of BC in building industry initiatives including sustainability, land use, First Nations cooperation, government relations and public awareness. It works closely with MABC on environmental issues and health and safety in the mines.
Goldcorp is a supporter of the MSA BC and its Mineral Resources Education Program, which teaches children throughout BC about the importance of mining.

Goldcorp is proud to support the Pacific Salmon Foundation (PSF), which is a not-for-profit dedicated to conserving Pacific salmon in the wild and improving our freshwater and marine ecosystems.

The Road to Champions was a national project to raise funds and recognize Canada's olympic atheletes. Gala Auctions were organized in major cities across Canada and medal-winning olympic atheletes each told their inspiring stories.

Many Canadian atheletes and aspiring olympic hopefuls are not well supported in Canada and these atheletes often live below the poverty line. Goldcorp wants to help raise awareness to this cause and all funds raised by these events were distributed to Gymnastics Canada, Canadian Cycling Association, Canadian Rowing Association, Canadian Canoe Association, and Triathlon Canada.

For the second year in a row Goldcorp was the presenting sponsor of the Special Olympics BC Final Fore Golf Tournament. The tournament, held on September 12, 2006, was a fund raising event for the Special Olympics of BC. The mission of this organization is to provide individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to enrich their lives and celebrate personal achievement through positive sport experiences.

For over 75 years the United Way has helped people in the Lower Mainland supporting children, seniors, immigrants or those at risk of homelessness. United Way takes a planned and researched approach to investing resources in our community. Goldcorp employees participated in an employee campaign to raise additional funds and show their support for United Way.

Goldcorp and the Vancouver Aquarium share mutual principles in regards to education and sustainable development. Goldcorp is pleased to support the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. BCCH provides expert care for over 82,000 of the province’s most seriously ill or injured children every year. Many of these children are extremely sick and they have nowhere else to turn. Goldcorp's contribution, raised through the Mining for Miracles Campaign, will help fund two new SMART Operating Rooms. Surgical, Minimal Access, Radiologic-Telemetric- or SMART- technology brings together the advanced diagnostics abilities and innovative surgical techniques that are currently not available to kids in BC.

BC Women's focuses its research, teaching and care on women's health and the health of their families, including their emotional, mental, social, spiritual and physical well-being. Their direct focus on women has allowed them to pioneer the creation of specialized programs designed to meet the health needs of women and their families. Goldcorp recognizes BC Women’s significant contribution through sponsorship of the 17th annual Birdies for Babies Charity Golf Tournament.

Goldcorp supports by donation the Canadian Cancer Society, which is a national, community-based organization of volunteers whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer.

The Canadian Cancer Society, in partnership with the National Cancer Institute of Canada, achieves its mission through research, education, patient services and advocacy for healthy public policy. These efforts are supported by volunteers and staff and funds raised in communities across Canada.

The Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) is the primary source of support, information and most importantly, hope for all Canadians affected by vision loss. They are recognized experts in vision health and have been making a profound difference in the lives of Canadians since 1918. Every week in Ontario, seven everyday people suddenly discover that they are paralyzed by a spinal cord injury. The Canadian Paraplegic Association Ontario aids these people with the objective of reaching 100% of Ontarians who are diagnosed with a spinal cord injury. Goldcorp has donated money to help support this notable association through its participation in the 15th Annual Charity Golf Tournament.

CAMH is Canada's largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital. CAMH combines clinical care, research, education, policy development and health promotion to help transform the lives of people affected by mental health and addiction issues. Goldcorp showed its support for this worthy cause by participating in CAMH’s Transforming Lives Awards held on May 12, 2009.

The Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation's mission is the prevention of depression related suicide in young people. The Foundation has lead many fundraising activities directed at funding research and programs aimed at positively increasing awareness of issues related to depression and young people.

Power To Be is an organization that was formed in 1998 with the goal of enriching the lives of disadvantaged children and young adults. Power To Be believes that outdoor activities are an inspiration to people of all circumstances.
