Our lasting success requires us to continually create value within our communities and for our shareholders. Our goal is to offer the communities a better future through local partnerships which have a positive impact on their quality of life. Goldcorp’s contributions include infrastructural developments, investment in education, equipment and various organizations, training programs and contributing towards a prosperous economic development of the various communities where Goldcorp and its subsidiaries are present. Goldcorp actively contributes in areas of education, healthcare, arts and community development.

 

Vancouver Aquarium
		Goldcorp and the Vancouver Aquarium share mutual principles in regards to education and sustainable development. Because of their commitment in these areas, the Goldcorp Ocean Theatre was established providing a unique venue to engage and inspire students and visitors with performances and multimedia shows.
Vancouver Symphony Orchestra
		Goldcorp is a proud sponsor of The 18th Annual Symphony Lovers’ Ball. The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra is a substantial element in the history of music in Vancouver. It is a cornerstone of our cultural community and the extraordinary talents held by its members and the events that they conduct are remarkable. Goldcorp recognizes these attributes and the value of the VSO in the community.
Canadian Paraplegic Association Ontario
		Every week in Ontario, seven everyday people suddenly discover that they are paralyzed by a spinal cord injury. The Canadian Paraplegic Association Ontario aids these people with the objective of reaching 100% of Ontarians who are diagnosed with a spinal cord injury. Goldcorp has donated money to help support this notable association through its participation in the 15th Annual Charity Golf Tournament.
YMCA of Vancouver, Woman of Distinction Awards
		The YWCA of Vancouver Women of Distinction Awards honor select individuals whose exceptional activities and achievements contribute to the well-being and future of our community. Goldcorp has increased its sponsorship level now for the third year for YWCA of Vancouver Women of Distinction Awards. As a partner, Goldcorp plays an important role in helping the YWCA recognize and rejoice accomplished women, in addition to businesses and organizations in the community.
University of British Columbia
		The University of British Columbia holds an international reputation for excellence in advanced research and learning. To assist in the development of these characteristics, Goldcorp has made a commitment to donate $5 million to support the Earth Systems Science Building (ESSB) over the course of 5 years. In recognition of this noteworthy donation, UBC will name the Teaching and Learning Wing within the ESSB the Goldcorp Inc. Teaching and Learning Wing.
Playhouse Theatre Company
		Goldcorp has a deep interest in the arts in our local community. Goldcorp has acknowledged the importance of the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre Company by helping raise funds for this organization. There are many wonderful mainstage productions at the Playhouse year round and it is recognized as British Columbia’s premier professional theatre company.
University of Ottawa
		The University of Ottawa, is one of the leading Universities in the nation. Goldcorp Inc. and the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Science have united to create the new Goldcorp Chair in Economic Geology. Goldcorp has pledged a gift of $1.5 million to the University of Ottawa as an endowment for the Chair. Funds made available through the Goldcorp Chair are being used to support research and education initiatives with a focus on mineral resources in the Canadian Shield.
Power To Be Adventure Therapy
		Power To Be is an organization that was formed in 1998 with the goal of enriching the lives of disadvantaged children and young adults. The organization strives to help and support the families and the communities to which these loved ones belong. Power To Be believes that outdoor activities are an inspiration to people of all circumstances. Goldcorp recognizes the significance of such an organization and has assisted with programming through financial contributions. Like Goldcorp, Power To Be also sees the importance in health, the environment, and the community.
BC Children’s Hospital
		Goldcorp is pleased to support the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. BCCH provides expert care for over 82,000 of the province’s most seriously ill or injured children every year. Many of these children are extremely sick and they have nowhere else to turn. Goldcorp's contribution, raised through the Mining for Miracles Campaign, will help fund two new SMART Operating Rooms. Surgical, Minimal Access, Radiologic-Telemetric- or SMART- technology brings together the advanced diagnostics abilities and innovative surgical techniques that are currently not available to kids in BC.
Adoptive Families Association of BC
		Goldcorp acknowledged the importance of AFABC by donating to this organization which supports the children and families involved in the adoption process. This organization is nationally recognized as a pioneer in adoption for promoting and supporting adoptive families and has made a positive impact in the lives of thousands of children and families across British Columbia. In October, 2006 Goldcorp sponsored the AFABC ‘Wine on the Mountain' fund raising event on the top of Grouse Mountain.
VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation
		Goldcorp recognized, by donation, the talented team of health care professionals at the ‘Night of a Thousand Stars Gala.'  This event supports the latest and most advanced equipment and pioneering research to provide immediate benefits for patients.  The VGH & UBC foundation provides a bridge between the essential services that the government provides and the most advanced and sophisticated health care possible.
United Way
		Goldcorp is a proud corporate sponsor of the United Way of the Lower Mainland. For over 75 years the United Way has helped people in the Lower Mainland supporting children, seniors, immigrants or those at risk of homelessness. United Way takes a planned and researched approach to investing resources in our community. Goldcorp employees participated in an employee campaign to raise additional funds and show their support for United Way.
Special Olympics British Columbia
		For the second year in a row Goldcorp was the presenting sponsor of the Special Olympics BC Final Fore Golf Tournament. The tournament, held on September 12, 2006, was a fund raising event for the Special Olympics of BC. The mission of this organization is to provide individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to enrich their lives and celebrate personal achievement through positive sport experiences. Goldcorp Chairman Ian Telfer is a Director of the National Special Olympics.
Road to Champions – Supporting Canadian Athletes
		The Road to Champions was a national project to raise funds and recognize Canada's olympic atheletes. Gala Auctions were organized in major cities across Canada and medal-winning olympic atheletes each told their inspiring stories. Many Canadian atheletes and aspiring olympic hopefuls are not well supported in Canada and these atheletes often live below the poverty line. Goldcorp wants to help raise awareness to this cause and all funds raised by these events were distributed to Gymnastics Canada, Canadian Cycling Association, Canadian Rowing Association, Canadian Canoe Association, and Triathlon Canada.
Vancouver Youth Soccer Team
		Goldcorp was proud to sponsor this Vancouver Youth Soccer Team who represented the province of British Columbia at the 2005 Canadian Soccer Association National Championship tournament held in Newfoundland. We also congratulate the team on winning the overall tournament!
Liu Institute for Global Issues
		Goldcorp made a donation in support of the Liu Institute, which pursues interdisciplinary and policy-related research and advocacy on global public policy issues related to human security. Its research agenda embraces international relations, human security, peace and disarmament, the environment, conflict and development, and global health and international justice issues.
Big Brothers Association
		Goldcorp recognizes the important contribution that Big Brothers makes to society, enhancing the resiliency and well-being of children by involving them in mentoring programs and by actively seeking to positively influence policies and programs that affect children's social and emotional development.
Canadian Cancer Society
		Goldcorp supports by donation the Canadian Cancer Society, which is a national, community-based organization of volunteers whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer. The Canadian Cancer Society, in partnership with the National Cancer Institute of Canada, achieves its mission through research, education, patient services and advocacy for healthy public policy. These efforts are supported by volunteers and staff and funds raised in communities across Canada.
