A large open pit mine in Nevada's historic Battle Mountain Trend
Located in Nevada, Marigold is an efficient open pit operation that has been in production for over two decades. Originally a modest, conventional milling operation, the mine was converted into a large run-of-mine heap leach operation, producing an expected 75,000 ounces of gold for Goldcorp in 2012. Along with higher gold prices, recent exploration activities have increased the mine’s life by an estimated 11 years: the discovery of the Mega ore body transformed several small pits into a single, continuous pit approximately three miles in length.
The operation is jointly owned by Goldcorp (66.7%) and Barrick Gold.
