TORONTO, February 5th, 2007 - Gold Eagle Mines Ltd. ("Gold Eagle") is pleased to announce that following the merger in December of 2006, the company has set out an aggressive 2007 drilling programme to advance the significant Bruce Channel gold project.
At the end of 2006 a large mineralized envelope with dimensions 1,100 m vertical by 450 m NW-SE and 615 m NE-SW, had been established at Bruce Channel. The mineralisation remains open in all directions. Moreover, the 2006 program successfully established continuity of structure, high grade, and broad widths.
Simon Lawrence, President and CEO "Gold Eagle plans to drill a minimum of 25,000 meters during 2007. We currently have 4 drill rigs and plans are underway to add at least 2 more. With John Whitton and Dennis Forgeron, Gold Eagle has an excellent exploration team in place at Red Lake. In order to support our future exploration plans, both at Bruce Channel and on a regional basis, we are looking to add to this core team in the near future."
Gold Eagle is also pleased to announce the recent appointment of John Harvey, P.Eng., B.Sc., and Chester Kuryliw , M.Sc., P.Eng. as consulting geologists. John Harvey was formerly the President of Hemlo Gold Mines from 1989 to 1992 and Senior Vice President of Exploration for Noranda from 1982 to 1994. In his role as Consulting Project Geologist, Mr. John Harvey will focus on the Bruce Channel zone. Mr. Chester Kuryliw, was formerly the Underground Manager and Exploration Manager at the Cochenour Willans Mine from 1952 to 1966. Mr. Kuryliw also mapped the MacKenzie Red Lake Mine in 1957. In his role as Consulting Regional Geologist with Gold Eagle, Mr. Chester Kuryliw will focus on the other exploration targets on our programme.
The marketing team has also recently expanded with the appointment of Suzette N. Ramcharan as Investor Relations and Office Manager. Suzette will be responsible for managing the new Gold Eagle offices and assisting in setting up the investor relations program going forward, she previously held these positions with Gabriel Resources Ltd.
