In development: a growing gold/silver deposit 50 kilometres from Peñasquito.
At the Camino Rojo gold/silver project—an advanced-stage district project near the Peñasquito mine a study was completed in the third quarter of 2012 that contemplates a heap leach facility to process near-surface oxide and transition mineralization. The study has demonstrated strong financial returns but does not reflect recent positive exploration results in the sulphide portions of the deposit.
The acquisition of Camino Rojo’s 3,389-square kilometre concession in 2010 nearly quadrupled Goldcorp’s land holdings in the area. The project area includes the Represa deposit, which contains proven and probable reserves of 1.63 million gold ounces and 32.07 million silver ounces (as of December 31, 2012).
