In development: a growing gold/silver deposit 50 kilometres from Peñasquito.
At the Camino Rojo gold/silver project—an advanced-stage district project near the Peñasquito mine positive exploration and concept study results continue to support the potential for it to become Goldcorp’s next major new gold operation. The Company expects to commence a pre-feasibility study before the end of 2014 with completion expected by the first quarter of 2016. Metallurgical testing continues and waste rock characterization studies are underway. The pit geotechnical drilling program commenced in June 2014.
The acquisition of Camino Rojo’s 3,389-square kilometre concession in 2010 nearly quadrupled Goldcorp’s land holdings in the area. The project area includes the Represa deposit, which contains proven and probable reserves of 1.63 million gold ounces and 32.07 million silver ounces (as of December 31, 2013).
