Goldcorp recognizes the value of Arts Umbrella and its contribution to the community. Arts Umbrella provides the highest quality visual and performing arts education to Metro Vancouver children and youth ages 2-19, regardless of their financial circumstances. Arts Umbrella’s programs help children learn to appreciate the arts and to develop their own creativity; even more valuable is the impact on the rest of their lives.
As a company with a strong interest in the local arts community, Goldcorp is a continuing supporter of Bard on the Beach. Bard on the Beach is a registered not-for-profit society with a mandate to present the works of William Shakespeare professionally and with integrity in an annual Festival that is both affordable and accessible to a wide audience.
Goldcorp donated $500,000 toward a new performance arts facility which bears a stage named in Goldcorp’s honour. A joint venture of the Arts Club Theatre Company, the largest not-for-profit arts organization in Western Canada, and Bard on the Beach, Western Canada’s largest not-for-profit Shakespeare festival. The BMO Theatre Center opened in fall 2015.
Goldcorp fully honors the traditional Aboriginal culture and heritage in the Full Circle, Talking Stick Festival. The festival brings together all forms of the performing arts ranging from theater to multimedia performance where people share their stories and have their voices heard.
With its 33,000 works dating from the 17th century, the Musée du Québec is the living memory of Québec art and artists. With a strong commitment to the arts, Goldcorp is proud to support the Musée du Québec through its Éléonore project in Northern Québec.
Goldcorp Peñasquito donated 28 musical instruments to the State Youth Orchestra in Zacatecas to encourage youth participation in art and culture programs.
Goldcorp is sponsoring the Vancouver Art Gallery’s exhibition, Picasso: The Artist and His Muses. Featuring the work of one of the 20th century’s most celebrated and influential artists, the exhibition is the most significant collection of Picasso’s works ever presented in Vancouver.
